Gail Elizabeth Forbes

Jan. 31, 1962 - Feb. 28, 2026

Gail Elizabeth Forbes (Vanlandingham), 64, of Orange, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 28 surrounded by her loving family who were the center of her world, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Jan. 31, 1962 in Arcadia to her devoted parents Jesse and Lois Vanlandingham, whose love, faith and teachings guided her throughout her life. Gail grew up in Arcadia, attended Arcadia High School and graduated from California Lutheran University. She met the love of her life, Chris, in college and the couple married July 28, 1984.

Chris and Gail moved to Orange in 1985, where Gail started her career as an elementary school teacher at Grand Avenue Christian School in Santa Ana. She spent countless hours volunteering in her children’s elementary classrooms, serving as a room mom and as their PTA president. Gail worked as a teacher at St. Paul’s Preschool in Tustin, became Assistant to the Director and most recently served the school as Director. She loved the kids at the school and those she worked with.

Gail was known for her faith, kindness, warmth, nurturing personality, welcoming smile and strength. She was a beacon of light to those around her, and her joyful spirit and love for life were contagious.

Her greatest joy was her family. She treasured being a devoted mother and a proud “Gaga,” pouring her heart into every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. She had a servant’s spirit, always ready to give of herself and care for others. She also cherished her dogs that were more than companions and the joy they brought to the house. She loved the beach, summer afternoons in her backyard pool surrounded by the laughter of her grandkids, and a life rooted deeply in the ministry of the Lord. Her faith guided her, her love sustained her family, and her legacy of kindness and devotion will live on in all who knew her.

Gail is survived by her loving husband, Chris, with whom she shared 44 wonderful years filled with love, laughter and unwavering partnership. She was a devoted and proud mother to her daughter, Ashley (Steve), and her sons, Blake (Christina) and Brooks (Kristina), who were the light of her life. Gail was a cherished and doting grandmother to her grandson, Kaelum, and granddaughter, Reese, who brought her endless joy and pride. She is also survived by her sister, Laura, and her brother, Mark, who will dearly miss their beloved sister and treasure her memory always.
